About Us
Transparency & Financials
The ZTTK SON-Shine Foundation is committed to the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we believe our donors and community deserve clear visibility into how every dollar is used. This page is audited against nonprofit transparency best practice (Candid/GuideStar-style expectations) — items the Foundation has not yet published are flagged in red below as a to-do list, not hidden.
Organization & Filing Status
Legal name: ZTTK SON-Shine Foundation, Inc. Tax status: 501(c)(3) public charity, EIN 86-1926609, established July 2021. Read our full Our Mission statement.
IRS Form 990 Filing
Our annual Form 990 is filed with the IRS and available for public review. Our most recent Form 990 (tax year 2024, filed November 2025) is publicly available — you can view it on ProPublica’s Nonprofit Explorer.
Tax year 2024 is currently the only Form 990 on public record for the Foundation, consistent with our founding in 2021 and the IRS review/publication timeline for small nonprofits. We will link each new filing here as it becomes available.
Board of Directors
The Foundation is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. Meet the full board, our Scientific Advisory Board, and our Clinical Advisory Board on our Our Team page.
Financial Summary (Tax Year 2024)
Topline figures below are drawn directly from our filed Form 990 (tax year 2024, via ProPublica — see the filing link above for the complete return):
- Total revenue: $523,854 — entirely from contributions
- Total expenses: $46,993
- Net assets at year end: $488,512
- Total liabilities: $0
- Officer compensation: $0 — every listed officer is uncompensated
The public filing summary does not break expenses out by program, management, and fundraising category; the complete Form 990 linked above is the authoritative source for that detail. The Foundation plans to publish a fuller narrative annual report as programs mature.
How We Allocate Funds
The Foundation prioritizes directing funds to research and family support. Our all-volunteer board structure keeps administrative overhead exceptionally low — the FY2024 filing above reports zero spending on salaries, professional fees, or fundraising costs.
Funding Policies
The Foundation operates under a set of core funding principles designed to maximize the impact of every donation:
No indirect or overhead costs on research grants — every dollar awarded to researchers goes directly to the science.
Transparent, milestone-driven research funding tied to measurable deliverables.
Open science principles emphasizing collaboration and reproducibility across all funded research.
Timely sharing of research outputs with the broader ZTTK community and scientific ecosystem.
Key Policies
Our Privacy Policy covers how the Foundation collects, uses, and protects visitor and donor data (currently in draft, pending legal review before final publication).
